Today's water vapor image has a lot of structure, based on my experience. I don't often look at it but my impression is always a very blurry image. But today, (and yesterday actually), I can see cloud cells in the jet stream. I should remember this date and check it with the EUMETSAT archives when they are available.
With such structure, I would expect the IR and WV winds to match very well, in height as well as magnitude and direction.WV Image
