Wine and Google Earth

Here I am, again struggling with Google Earth on Ubuntu 10.10. Not only did it not work, but upon trying to fix it, broke my Skype application. Someone suggested a fool-proof fix: Run it using Wine, the Windows emulator. I have had little luck with Wine when running games, but this actually worked. I had to do some tweaking because the Google Earth executable was not on my C: drive.


As a Linux fan, I am unhappy with this fix. If Google Earth was open source software, someone would have fixed it. Or I could try and fix it myself.
