Hail

14:55 Local time, hail is falling. I had a quick look at SATREP's new Vertical Cross Section feature (http://www.satreponline.org/today_12.php). AS you can see by the time difference between this entry and my most recent, I have not been too acive lately. I'll have to read the manual for an interpretation.

The light blue cross section passes over the cloud field which is approaching the Netherlands at 1200 (and probably the source of the hail which we are getting now.)
There is a sharp boundary in the isentropes at approximately this coordinates. The vertical motion variable, Omega, is apparent here.
